Bayerische Oberlandbahn

BOB certified by mobifair

The BOB was the first railway company in Germany to apply for the mobifair certification. After the necessary checks were carried out, it was awarded the mobifair social responsibility certification. It was presented at a ceremony on Friday 16th October, at the BOB's service depot in Lenggries. Raoul Machalat from mobifair GmbH welcomed everyone and speeches were made by Christoph Hillenbrand, the government president of Upper Bavaria and  representative of the Minister-President of Bavaria, Annette Karl, MdL, Werner Weindl, mayor of Lenggries and assistant district administrator, Peter Janssehn, mayor of Tegernsee, Bernhard Kessel, representing the workers council of the BOB and the whole workers council of Veolia Verkehr. In conclusion mobifair's managing director, Helmut Diener, presented BOB's managing director, Heino Seeger, with the certificate.

The meaning of the social responsibility certification:
The criteria used by mobifair - Zertifizierungs- und Beratungs-GmbH to carry out the certification allow the BOB - Bayerische Oberlandbahn GmbH to be assessed as to how well it follows the legally laid down agreements and pertinent regulations concerning earnings and social standards. The results of the analysis showed that the necessary standards required for the certification had been reached. An organisation that receives this certification has shown that in addition to following the normal legal requirements it has demonstrated exemplary pay and social standards. It has also demonstrated that the implementation of employment protection agreements and agreements concerning working hours has an appropriate priority and that the agreements are scrupulously observed. The certification is valid until October 2012.

In addition the managing director, Heino Seeger, received the fairness prize for his exemplary and dedicated work against low salaries and antisocial working practises. It honoured his hard work to ensure fair competition in a difficult business environment. The fairness prize is a recognition of the company's socially responsible philosophy and should serve as an example to others.

The certification for social responsibility has been developed by mobifair, in order to give companies the chance to demonstrate to their customers the high standards of the working conditions in their company. The award of a certification should show that a company has higher standards than others and that it pays special attention to ensure that quality and security are not risked through antisocial working conditions.
