Generally the Oberland is served from Munich by a 3 fold traction, sometimes even with a 4 fold one. By the unique coupling and sharing technique traction units are separated automatically at Holzkirchen (for onward directions to Bayrischzell and Tegernsee/Lenggries) and later on again at Schaftlach (for onward directions to Tegernsee and Lenggries). In order to make it easier for you to get on board of the right traction unit the BOB has displayed posters at Munich Main Station, Donnersbergerbruecke, Harras, Siemenswerke and Solln that indicate the correct order of traction units.
