Service centre depot
In November 1998, parallel to the start of the BOB railroad services the maintenance facility went into operation.
Until June 2004 all smaller service activities on the Integral trains were performed while major service activities happened at the manufacturers’ site at Jenbach/Tyrolia.
The first maintenance facility consisted of two tracks, a gantry crane, a working pit for the change of wheels, a fuelling unit and a wash-plant for the traction units. The wash-plant uses a water recycling system and an oil mist separator and therefore operates under environmentally friendly conditions.
As maintenance split up between two sites became too expensive for reasons of keeping double inventory of spare parts and the transfer of traction units to Austria it was only an interim solution. When in addition in 2001 IVT, the manufacturer of the Integral trains, withdraw from the building of railcars and locomotives it became evident and that starting from 2003 on the maintenance facility at Lenggries had to be extended into a depot. On September 16, 2003 the construction of a new plant started with a ground-breaking ceremony. On June 16, 2004, after only nine months the new building was inaugurated.
Today the depot offers top notch maintenance and repair. In addition to having received ISO 9001 certification the depot became a registered workshop by the Federal Railway Authority under registration number 133.
At the depot more than 40 highly qualified employees are working in a two shift mode. They are trained as engine fitters, as mechanics, as electro-technicians and as electronic technicians.
Since September 2005 the depot offers apprenticeships. Currently two trainees follow a three and a half years training as a combination of mechanic and electronic technician.
