Selected Network Bayerische Oberlandbahn

The Selected Network program focuses on representative rail networks, which were monitored and fostered by the Bayerische Eisenbahngesellschaft mbH (BEG) for a period of 3 years. In order to improve the service quality exemplary and innovative activities became introduced and implemented. The Selected Networks thereby became testing tracks for a modern, high quality rail bound suburban transportation system. The BOB was one of the Selected Networks and several improvements became implemented.

At Munich Main Station guiding the passengers to the correct unit of the Integral according to their destination had to be improved due to the new concept of splitting the train in Holzkirchen and Schaftlach. Train formation indicators and signs were developed and installed on the platforms.

Service for passengers became extended.

Tourists and Holidaymakers:

  • Information on leisure activities and sights along the lines are available in the brochure “BOB-Ausflugstipps”.
  • Our on-board staff will provide you with information on events and opening times of all major institutions.
  • Special offer tickets were developed for day trippers.

Children:

  • In cooperation with the BEG and Bayern Tourism Marketing GmbH (BayTM) was developed the BOB KinderlandZug.
  • Train staff was specially trained in dealing with young children.

Young People:

  • We developed the campaign „The BOB cares for you”.
  • Platform wardens are installed at selected stations to secure safe entry and exit of scholars.

Disabled and visually impaired passengers:

  • A brochure for disabled passengers provides information on special features and utilities of the BOB at the stations and in the train. 
  • A recorded brochure provides visually impaired and partly sighted passengers with intonated information on travelling with the BOB.
  • Special fittings for visually impaired and partially sighted passengers were fitted to the Integral.

Appearance and facilities at the stations were improved. BOB customer centre at München Main Station, Holzkirchen, Miesbach, Bad Toelz and Lenggries improve the service for passengers.

Additional quality control and safety is be secured by:

  • Customer consultations, praise and complaint handling. 
  • A forum and the guest book on the BOB homepage enables passengers to voice their opinions and recommendations. 
  • A Customer Council monitors activities and secures a customer oriented service. 
  • A Quality Supervisor continuously checks operations and service and their accordance with parameters.
